Finally the scaffolding is beginning to come down, the initial strike of the Scaffolding will be on Thursday August 13th when the Tin roof will be removed, and then the Scaffolding will be removed starting with 79. The front of 75 Winchester St. will remain scaffolded for the foreseeable future so that materials can be hoisted straight up to the 3rd floor without going through the house.
As the scaffolding is removed the outside of the windows will be cleaned, but please can you report any sticking windows so that they can be freed up for you.
In fact in spite of the Tin roof there were 2 leaks during the torrential rain last week, and the repair to those properties will take place by arrangement with the tenant. Additionally there appear to be problems with the wired Internet Network (although the wireless one is working well), and some TV receptions. Instead of addressing these problems piecemeal our intention is to extend the Communal TV and Internet Network planned for the new development to all properties except the bedsits of 71. This will provide all tenants the opportunity to watch Freeview, subscribe to Sky, and use VoIP Telephony.
Now we are moving ahead to complete the 2nd phase of the project to enclose and form 7 new studio flats. The first 2 flats will be finished mid-September 2009, with further flats finishing on a weekly basis. After the flats have been completed in October the main entrance and common parts will be refurbished during November. This will result in complete stripping and repainting of all woodwork, and new Sissel Carpet throughout, and a modern lighting scheme of uplighters, and spotlights. A very distinct improvement to the appearance is planned to include individual stainless steel letterboxes for each flat at the entrance, a new company office to co-ordinate maintenance, and two new laundries for the flats without a private washer/drier.
