The Perrier award-winning comedienne Laura Solon tells the Times that Pimlico has been much of her inspiration for comedy writing.
She lived in her mother’s two-bedroom flat split over the first and second floors of a Georgian terrace in Churton St., Pimlico – which wasn’t a terribly fashionable place to live 10 years ago. She had lived in Clapham, which seemed to be filled with bankers and lawyers, whilst Pimlico’s residents are a far more eccentric bunch, and she got some of her best ideas for characters from working in the Pimlico Flat.
The Pimlico flat was ideal for writing, as the huge Georgian windows meant it was always flooded with light, and it overlooked a busy street, so it was perfect for people-watching. A subtle, brilliant writer and extremely versatile actress, Laura is able to turn her hand to a diverse range of hilarious characters and voices. Her comedy is dark and distinctive, crammed with acute observations and killer one-liners.
She tours with her show “Rabbit Faced Story Soup” from January 21
