Pimlico’s Turner Prize Exhibition – Half Price

Tate Britain

Tate Britain

The Turner Prize is a contemporary art award that was set up in 1984 to celebrate new developments in contemporary art. The prize is awarded each year to ‘a British artist under fifty for an outstanding exhibition or other presentation of their work in the twelve months preceding’. The four artists nominated for Turner Prize 2009 are Enrico David, Roger Hiorns, Lucy Skaer and Richard Wright, and the Turner Prize 2009 exhibition is currently running at Pimlico’s Tate Britain, and ends on the 3rd January.

On the first Friday of each month, 18.00-22.00 (last entry to exhibitions 21.00) Tate Britain gives you the perfect opportunity to explore art after hours. You can relax with a drink and enjoy exhibitions, performances, music, talks and films free, and exhibition entry is half price. To make a reservation for the restaurant call 020 7887 8825.

So on the evening Friday December 4th there is a unique opportunity to see the Turner Prize Exhibition for £4 instead of £8. The jury meets to decide the winner on 7 December 2009 and the prize is awarded that evening in a ceremony broadcast live on Channel 4.
