Victoria Tube Station to be 50% bigger

Victoria Station Logo

Victoria Station Logo

Pimlico Flats’ closest tube station is Victoria, but rush hour can be a nightmare in the mornings as the escalators are barred to prevent a crush of commuters driving those on the platforms onto the rails. Relief is on the way in the form of a £695-million revamp to be completed before the 2012 Olympics. The station will nearly double in size with an entrance opened on Victoria Street and a complete redesign of the exit and entry points to the station, a new ticket hall, lifts and escalators to ease congestion. A new ramp entrance will be constructed outside Cardinal Place on Victoria Street, allowing quicker access to the Victoria Line.

The Coolest Commute in London!

Heat Map of the Underground

Heat Map of the Underground

The warmest parts of the Underground network have been revealed in a map compiled by Transport for London (TfL).
The Central Line was the hottest, with temperatures of 32C (90F) between Holland Park and Mile End. Most stations on the Bakerloo Line reached 32C, though temperatures eased further south on the line.

Pimlico – already served by one of the cooler lines (the Victoria Line) is due to benefit further as tfl plans include an innovative groundwater cooling trial at Victoria Tube station. If successful, the trial could lead to it being applied at other deep-level Underground stations in future.

Does anyone else find London Transport Fare publications difficult to work out? I think this is all anyone needs to know for travelling on London Tube or Bus. It certainly puts forward the argument for living in Zone 1 …… did I mention that Pimlico is in Zone 1?
