Darius
Darius Davies of our very own Winchester Street in Pimlico came in third place at the New Act of the Year Finals 2011, held at the Barbican last weekend. More than 150 acts had entered the competition which, through ten auditions, were whittled down to 14 for the finals. Mr Davies, who is in his 20s and by day works in marketing for a music website, is also the voice of Becks Beer, writing their blog ”The Daily Different”.
Darius is no small boy to the World Wide Web, being the inventor of the Cachunga massage. He was bored at work and so posted a description onto Wikipedia:
Cachunga Massage- Traditional Persian Massage
Cachunga introduced to the Achaemenid Empire of ancient Persia by Darius the 8th. This is a massage that primarily focuses on the breasts of females. Cachunga is a deep tissue massage used with oil. It is based on a fondling motion, and is usually performed in the direction of the heart to promote circulation.
Due to his cunning use of language and the plausibility factor it was left on Wikipedia which led to other websites picking up on it and soon it was all over the internet and included in authoritative articles on massage such as eZine and the BBC’s Top Gear website.
Darius has been described as ‘An on the street observationist with an eye for the absurd with sharp lines and rough edges. High-energy and crowd pleasing’. His next appearance will be at Bar XLR, Epsom Saturday 16th April 2011 from 8:00pm, until 10:45pm
His success has also been featured in the Westminster Chronicle
